Body dermatosis translates as inflammation of the skin and can affect the entire human body, primarily the torso, arms, legs, and scalp. Body dermatosis is thought to result from hereditary factors and external stimulants. Like an allergy, body dermatosis is not contagious and can't be spread from person to person. There are many environmental and emotional stimulants that can trigger an outbreak of body dermatoses, including heat and sweating, fragrances, synthetic fabrics, stress, infection, and variety of common allergens such as animal dander, dust, or pollen.
Symptoms of body dermatoses include itching and redness, swelling, scaly skin, skin plaques, dryness, blisters or ulcers, oozing and crusting, and small red bumps. There are a variety of treatments for body dermatoses, including lotions, foams, cleaners, and other medications. Patients suffering from dermatoses or chronic skin conditions that might be diagnosed as dermatoses are encouraged to see a health care professional in the field of dermatology.
