BG Barley - Beta-Glucan Soluble Fiber helps Heart Health
When preventing heart disease, attempting to lower cholesterol, increasing nutrient absorption, and other health concerns associated with diabetes, consuming whole grains as part of a daily diet is imperative to staying healthy. Barley in particular has been shown to be an extremely healthy whole grain. Because it is high in fiber, barley is a natural cholesterol reducer. Fiber "cleans out" the dietary track by absorbing fats, cholesterol and other unhealthy foods. Studies conducted in 2004 show that barley containing beta-glucan soluble fiber (known as BG) lowers LDL cholesterol by six to eight per cent when three to six grams of beta-glucan soluble fiber is consumed daily.
BG Barley (named for its beta-glucan) was specifically designed for people with diabetes who need to manage their weight, blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol.
According to the BG Barley , BG Barley provides more nutrients that target a healthy diet for diabetics than any other whole grain cereal product. These benefits include all of the following:
- Improve heart health through lowered cholesterol as a result of 50% more fiber and 55% more beta-glucan (bg) soluble fiber than Quaker® Oatmeal.
- Lowered blood pressure through 500% more potassium that Quick Cream of Wheat.
- Lowered cholesterol through 250% more niacin than Instant Grits.
- Increased anti-oxidants through 500% more vitamin E than Cream of Rice.
- Blood sugar control through a lower glycemic index (GI) than any other whole grain.
